What are Fillers?
In the context of a medical spa, "fillers" refer to dermal fillers, which are injectable substances used to smooth out wrinkles, add volume, and enhance facial contours.
Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment that can temporarily improve the appearance of the skin and restore a more youthful look.
There are various types of dermal fillers, with some of the most common being:
Hyaluronic acid fillers: These are made of a gel-like substance containing hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain skin hydration and elasticity. Popular brands include Juvederm, Restylane, and Revanesse.
Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers: This filler is made of a substance similar to the minerals found in human bones. It is used to add volume and stimulate collagen production. Radiesse is a well-known brand of calcium hydroxylapatite filler.
Poly-L-lactic acid fillers: These fillers, like Sculptra, are made of a biodegradable synthetic substance that helps stimulate collagen production over time, leading to a gradual improvement in skin appearance.
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) fillers: These are made of a synthetic material that remains under the skin as a semi-permanent support structure, providing long-lasting volume and wrinkle correction. Bellafill is an example of a PMMA filler.
Dermal fillers are generally administered by a licensed medical professional at a medical spa or clinic. The results can last from several months to several years, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's response to the treatment.

What do I need to do prior to a filler procedure?
We request that you avoid antibiotics, significant illnesses, dental appointments, surgeries and any vaccinations for one month prior to your treatment. We suggest stopping Vit E, fish oils, NSAIDS and aspirin for one week prior to your appointment. We also request you avoid alcohol for several days prior to your treatment.
How long does the treatment take and what is the downtime?
Our filler appointments at Simply You Med Spa range from 1-2 hours depending on the areas to be treated. You can plan on returning to a "normal lifestyle" immediately after your treatment. We kindly request you avoid heavy exercise for several days after your treatment. Please keep in mind that bruising is possible and you could feel sore for several days after your treatment.
Does it hurt and will I look odd?
